NHS (National Honor Society)

The purpose of National Honor Society shall be to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, and to develop character in the students. We strive for exellence and community service in every aspect of our club! We will have meetings once a month for thirty minutes before school starts, and will be planning different community service events to complete virtually! This club is only for Juniors and Seniors with a 3.8 weighted GPA or above, who have shown academic and service excellence within your high school years. You will be informed if you qualify for next years selection process. Also, we provide many different volunteering opportunities and love to collaborate with clubs within school! Some perks would be that juniors have the opportunity to become one of five Project Leaders, which is a leadership position that works directly with the Executive Board to organize and facilitate volunteer events each month. At the end of their junior year of NHS, members can apply to be on the Exec team. Only Project Leaders can apply to be President of Vice President, but any member in the 11th grade can apply to be Secretary or Treasurer. In addition to that, Seniors, upon completion of NHS requirements, will receive a gold stole to be worn at their graduation with their cap and gown. This is a symbol of their high achievement in scholarship, service, leadership, and character throughout high school. Seniors will be given their stoles at the banquet at the end of the year. The applications for the year of 2020-2021 close within the first two weeks of September since the window was open since May, but if you have any questions or special circumstances please email Sonya Shafir, NHS President 2020-2021,
sonyashafir@gmail.com. If you have any general questions please email nhs.wvwolverines@gmail.com. For next years applicants, please look for t he new 2021-2022 application on the NHS website, which will be open in May (https://nhswvwolverines.wixsite.com/wvnhs). Thank you for considering our club, and we hope to see you soon!
